About The WPC

The Worcester Photography Center is an offshoot of the Worcester Photography Meetups Group, originally spearheaded by photographer, Scott Erb. His vision with the Meetups was to have an informal environment for photographers to assemble and share ideas and inspirations. He found Meetups, an Internet-based organizational tool that fit his needs perfectly. He used it to start the Worcester Photography Meetup Group and, over time, photographers in Central Massachusetts found out about the meetings, singed on to Meetups, and helped Scott's vision become a reality.

A similar group was started in Boston through the leadership of Banafsheh Ehtemam. She and Scott linked up and, now, the two groups often behave as one. Even newer groups are starting up as well, with a Photography Meetup coming into its own in Lowell, MA.

This website, the Worcester Photography Center, is in place to give a face to the Meetups for people who aren't able to access us through the Meetups forum. Although it is free, it is quite possible that scheduling or other, personal reasons prevent this. Regardless, we believe that it is important to spread the passion for photography in New England and, especially, in our own immediate region. There are many photographic artists working here, either professionally or non-professionally, producing wonderful results. We hope that, through our efforts, we will have made it possible for many more people to come to enjoy the artistry and avocations at play here.

Finally, there are many other resources and organizations dedicated to photography. Our hope is that we will be able to include and recognize them in our meetings and through the Worcester Photography Center website.

Becoming A Member

The whole idea is to join us for a Meetup. You can do this by going to the Worcester Photography Meetups site to find out when the next one is scheduled. Then, just stop by to check us out. It doesn't cost anything, so you can't lose.

Our meetings are casual and friendly. We ask people to bring in photos, camera equipment to demonstrate, questions to be asked, and stories to be told. There's always someone who's interested. Sometimes, our meetings have a more formal nature with a specific discussion or presentation, but more often than not, we just go with the flow.

Once you've signed on at Meetups.com and are comfortable with us, you can request access to this site as a member. Basically, it means you get to have a link place here to be able to connect to your images. We're still new at this and the membership benefits may change over time. Also, our "membership policy" may change; we may adopt the Boston model, for example, which has stricter requirements...or not. We may just stay the same as were are. See? We just go with the flow.
